There are many causes of neck pain including but not limited to osteoarthritis, disc disorders, muscle sprain/strain, trauma, infection, or myofascial pain syndrome, to name a few. A physiotherapy assessment would determine neck range of movement, and strength. The treatment would include techniques to reduce pain and stiffness to improve head and neck range of movement as well as exercises to develop the muscles supporting the cervical spine. Even if pain cannot be fully eliminated, physiotherapy may play an important role to improve neck posture and function for daily activities.
